Bestest Friends

Description

The Kingdom of the NoFace. A kingdom now in the hands of the child King Yami whose mind is slowly sliding more and more into
insanity. The sky was getting more and more distorted and dark the longer the child was sitting on his throne, clutching the Book of Destiny in his tiny arms, a quill being held in his left hand. He was kicking his legs out of boredom, constantly stating how bored he was,
how much he wanted someone to play with.

Until the giant throne room doors opened and some people, a man and a child, stepped in. Yami turned his head in wonder and stopped
kicking his legs, looking at the two whom just entered his hall of reign. The man seemed intimidated just being near the child King,
and the young boy was trembling out of fear.
The King cocked his head to the side, his wide, vacantly staring eyes never leaving the two in front of him.

"...Who are you?", his gaze went to the man and pierced through him with hate and disgust.

"You are an adult!", Yami suddenly screamed, "Who let you in?! Go away!"

His sudden yell made the castle tremble in rhythm with his anger. The man winced and prayed to Grambi that he would survive.

"But... I- I brought you your old friend, King Yami...", he stuttered.

Yami immediately calmed down and leaned back in his throne. His look now went to the shuddering child, which, as he now noticed,
was indeed a Fire Element. He slowly rose from his throne and floated, never letting go of the book or his quill, before the two,
making the child look up and the man back away a bit.

"...My bestest friend? Really?"

He seemed skeptical. His young voice of a boy almost sounded taunting, drowning in disbelief. But the man nodded.

"Yes, of course! ...Your bestest... friend." He backed up more, too much for Yami not to notice.

Yami's cold eyes went to him, but it was apparent he didn't care and he payed his full attention to the child before him.
The boy, younger than Yami, had not spoken a word, he only shivered, not looking up. Yami tilted his head and went a bit closer to him,
raising his voice once more.

"...What is our favorite thing to do?"

This question left the child puzzled and made it look up, look directly into Yami's face.
The boy's eyes seemingly widened and he opened his mouth to speak,

"The... favorite-"

All of the sudden, Yami made a huge step backwards, making the child interrupt himself.
It was almost a repulsive gesture, his face started to fill with rage and he yelled at the top of his lungs,

"You are not my bestest friend! He couldn't talk! YOU ARE A LIAR! BOTH OF YOU!"

The man and the child flinched and immediately wanted to make a quick getaway, but they never had a chance.
The child King continued on yelling and he commanded his pet as he called him to arrive. And there he came,
slinking from behind the throne, slowly rising up with a mighty roar was Chaos, the Tar Beast.
He rose out of his tar puddle and slammed his sharp claws onto the marble floor and another roar filled the air.
The man and the child screamed, but it was no use.

"CHAOS! EAT THEM!", Yami commanded, his voice sounded demonic and more frightening than ever.

And onto his command, the Tar Demon lunged at the two, mouth wide open, his razor sharp teeth ready to crush their bones,
flesh and organs into tiny pieces. A last, vast and terrified scream left the two as Chaos came down on them and made a short process.
The crunching sounds of the breaking bones were beyond terrible, but Yami didn't notice, nor did he really care.
He sat back on his throne as Chaos swallowed his meal and slinked back to where he came from, leaving a great trail of blood on the floor.

"...Again... it happened again... Someone wanted to pretend being my bestest friend... Why are they doing this to me?"

He pressed the book harshly against his chest and gritted his teeth, trying to suppress the anger and at the same time sadness that wanted
to overcome him. He wanted his bestest friend back. But he didn't know where he was. Nor did he know if he was even alive anymore.
The child rocked back and forth in his throne, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't hold back his tears any longer.

"I just... want to play with you again... I want you back, my bestest friend... Daddy was already taken away from me... Why can't you
come back? I want you back, Vincent..."

...

Further away from the happenings inside the royal castle lay the forest, once filled with luscious green trees, but now almost a complete
wasteland. Inside this forest resided many small huts of either people who decided to live in the woods or Gilgamesh worshipers.
And in one of those huts, near the edge of the woods at the boarder to the Tribe of Darkness was a small boy.
Sitting inside the dark hut, in a corner. No one but him was there. But he didn't live alone.
He was bloodied, covered in gashes and bruises, and yet he had the strength to sit balled up, his back against the wooden wall.

His eyes looked at the floor that was covered in his blood, dried and wet, red blood and other fluids emitting scents he was used to by now
for he lived in these. His gaze was empty, full of sorrow, and his salty tears dripped down like a slow flowing waterfall.
He barely rocked back and forth, just like the child King did.

~I feel alone... empty... I am hurt... bleeding... Tears stream down my face... I do not know if those are tears caused by hollow
sadness or by the immense pain I am suffering... I guess both...~

He looked up slowly to the ceiling, every single bit of his small and feeble body hurting badly. But he ignored the pain.

~I know you are not here anymore, Daddy... But... I somehow know you can hear me, Daddy...~

He shook his head slowly, his eyes keeping to stare sadly.

~...You should see what is happening here... You should see... Yami...~

He suddenly broke out into tears, horrible sobbing, but it all happened without a sound being made or heard.
He rubbed his eyes, trying to make the tears go away, yet that didn't work at all. Just as it didn't work when he tried to make his physical
and emotional pain go away. It just wouldn't.
Suddenly, the hut door opened and someone entered, it made the boy wince in a terrible manner and immediately ball up, his head barred
on his knees.
As if he played a game a child would, a game of hide and seek. "When I can't see you, you can't see me either."
Just that this wasn't the case here at all.

~Oh no... Master Midaus is here... oh no... Daddy... help me...~

The man stepped in and closed the door, throwing a blood soaked bag onto the table before he immediately turned to the child.

"Vincent, I am back, trash. Did you do what I told you to do...?"

The boy got smaller and smaller, trying to suck every bit of himself in so he could make himself even smaller and tinier. Noticing this,
Midaus left a deep growl and made a grimace. He stepped towards him, mumbling,

"You little worthless piece of filth..."

A sentence they boy heard more than enough. And most of the time, this sentence was the last he heard before he passed out from the
brutal beatings and abuses. But this had something good to it, he thought sometimes. Passing out meant that he could be with his father
again. He could be in a world where everything was fine again. A world which you can also call the past. Where he and his best friend
just lay on the garden, on the green grass, happily laughing and causing shenanigans.

It made the little Vincent smile as he lay on the ground.

And at the exact same time, sleeping on his throne... Yami smiled as well. He too dreamed of a world called the past.

At least in their dreams, the two bestest friends could be together.

...Well, this is a rather... huge contrast in emotion to what I have posted before.
I don't have much to say to it for the little story pretty much says it all.
But I can say that these two were separated when Vincent, who is mute if you didn't notice was five and a half and Yami seven.

Yes, what do you know, the insane child king actually has a friend. A best friend.

I hope you enjoy this one, I really like it.
I apologize for any kind of grammar and spelling mistakes, if you are even reading this.
See yah! ^_^

Ouch, poor babies. Once again, you’ve created beautiful artwork and writing about a hideous subject.
On a side note, I don’t know if they’re still canon, but I remember some of DortChild’s old works mentioning that Yami kidnapped NoFace children to be is companions, and that he’s though to be the reason why fire elemental NoFace are virtually extinct in the modern era. Did Yami kidnap a disproportionate number of fire elemental children because his lost friend was a fire elemental? Vincent, due to being taken away from the NoFace kingdom, was able to survive and-presumably-become Felice’s ancestor.
